Another Quick Headcanon
Tim is absolutely terrified to call Bruce “Dad”, because he’s not sure how well the big guy will take it. He doesn’t see himself as worthy of being a member of Bruce’s family, or really deserving his affections, or belonging with everybody else, simply because he wasn’t chosen; he volunteered. So, usually, he just kind of keeps his distance, stays quiet, and tries not to be bothersome to anybody. The more he acts like a really good family friend, the more he can almost convince himself that he doesn’t need to be a part of the family to be happy.
Bruce is unendingly distressed by this, especially considering that the only times Tim has ever let go and called him “Dad” were when he was horribly injured, insanely sick, and/or near death.
